I posted this same remark on Facebook today and it received a long list of comments. I thought, “THIS IS GOOD STUFF!” So, below you will find my wall post for you to “mull over” and embrace:

There are Dream MAKERS, CATCHERS, BELIEVERS and STEALERS. May you be the FIRST of these and avoid the LAST! “It is more blessed to GIVE than to receive…”

I just love some of the responses received and I know they will enlighten, inspire, and empower you also. Here’s a few I wanted to share and I look forward to YOUR comments also…

“Do you have a God-given dream? Refuse to quit and it ‘will surely come’. Have no dream? Ask God for one. Already accomplished your dream? Ask God for another one before you lose the joy and motivation of life. Have a dream so small it doesn’t stretch you? Ask God for a bigger one and watch your faith grow!” ~ R. Strickland

One of my favorite quotes: “You cannot light another’s path without brightening your own.” ~ J. McKissack

“Goals are dreams with a deadline date to accomplish them. Write them down on paper and keep them in sight so you see them everyday Read them out loud to yourself and see them in your conscious mind already completed.” ~ J. Marchitto

(On this one, I must add some commentary: A dream does NOT have a deadline…a goal, however SHOULD. To make your dream a reality, you must have a plan. Once the plan is created you must commit to going to work, ACTING to achieve that goal by following your plan. This reminds me of a quote I taught my students when I was teaching 8th and 9th grade in the 90s – yes, I said NINETIES!!! “A dream without a plan is like a boat without a paddle.”)

A book recommendation to share: The Dream Giver by Bruce Wilkinson ~ J. Dietz, which is followed with “The dream giver is honestly the best book ever written for clarity of message!!! I have recommended it more times than I have my own book.” ~ J. Sisneros

Would you say YOU are:

a) Dream MAKER
b) Dream CATCHER
c) Dream BELIEVER
d) Dream STEALER
e) a little of all of these…

In us are dreams. The difference is, some people MAKE their dreams come true or that of others. You may CATCH someone else’s dream and make it your own…kind of like the first person to say, “I want to go to Disney World!” and then more and more people who won this, that, and the other started stating this but the phrase had lost its glamour…though the location has not! You could be one who BELIEVES in others dreams but finds excuses for not believing you can achieve your own, or are too afraid that you might actually.

AND THEN there are the Dream Stealers who will squash on anything you set out to achieve. They dip from your cup and leave you wondering WHAT happened, HOW did that happen, WHERE did those ideas come from in the first place…and you dismiss your dream as a fantasy and end all efforts and vanquish all hopes of attaining to what you once aspired for. Soooo sad…yet it is oh so true! Even sadder, most Dream Stealers are people we surround ourselves with every single day…by choice! It may be your best friend, co-worker, boss, spouse, sibling, parent, neighbor…the possibilities are endless!

I want to encourage you to DREAM!!!  If there is ANYONE who doesn’t believe, catch, or help you to MAKE your dreams come true then limit your time with that person – they are like a virus and will plague your success!!!

This is not only true with dreams, but also with networking…remember my email to you regarding Drain, Gain and Strain networkers (much thanks to Mr. Jim Penny for that GREAT metaphor)? Well…DITTO!

Set out to be a DREAM MAKER and make 2010 your year to WIN!!!
